HELLO! I am Adriana Bonetti, All Saints Catholic Academy's new primary librarian. Welcome to our library's very own website! If you are here reading this, thank you! Glad you checked this out!
There have been and will continue to be ongoing changes at our school library. There will also be many activities for our students here to enjoy. Yes, you just read that. Activities! Libraries are no longer the quiet reading rooms of yesteryear. They are collaborative learning hubs. A destination within a destination. Here, students will not only find a book to read, yet a world to explore. I have made it comfortable for them, too - pillows included! And another thing, the library is not a no talking room. Children need to talk, share, and express ideas because that's how learning takes place. However, I do ask them to not get too loud. Don't want to scare the books!
There will be times, now, when a student won't have time to check out a book. I will make sure they have the opportunity to do so as often as possible!
As for policies, the same as previous years applies: lost books come with a price. If a student loses a book, he/she will have to pay a $5 fee. Please, don't lose a book! Also, I do not expect a lengthy book to be read and returned within a week. If a student needs the book a little longer - two weeks, one month - that is fine. Yet, students cannot check out a new book without checking in borrowed books first.
I have collaborated with our Tech Integrator, Mr. John Rios, to provide iPads during library for PreK4-4th Graders. Students will be able to listen to stories and learn to read with installed apps such as Homer, CuriousWorld and have access to a plethora of books through the digital library app Epic!
I will often post pictures and/or videos of our library, students and the activities in which we engage. Some activities to look forward to are the Scary Story Contest and The Global Read Aloud 2018 (for more information, check out the link below).
Hope you enjoy the changes as much as the kids do. Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Happy Reading!
